The Freedom of Your Mind

After a discussion, I was thinking about freedom and what it means, the phrase 'The freedom of your mind is what liberates you' popped into my head so I decided to write a song

In a room that has no windows thinking the world was small

But a spark rose up within you saying you must break the wall

You do not need permission to unlock doors inside

Take that step and move forward that’s what you must decide

So rise up and redefine everything you thought you knew

Think hard think long on what they say and if it’s really true

You’re a light they can’t confine

You’re a fire burning through

The freedom of your mind

Is what liberates you

Walking with shadows with no name and echoes not your own

Every thought a borrowed word every silence a stepping stone

Something stirred and made you rise just like a breath at dawn

A truth no longer hidden deep a truth that must be known

So rise up and redefine everything you thought you knew

Think hard think long on what they say and if it’s really true

You’re a light they can’t confine

You’re a fire burning through

The freedom of your mind

Is what liberates you

No chains but the ones you carried

No walls but the ones you drew

And every fear that kept you buried

Fades when you choose what’s true

So rise up and redefine everything you thought you knew

Think hard think long on what they say and if it’s really true

You’re a light they can’t confine

You’re a fire burning through

The freedom of your mind

Is what liberates you

Break the walls you once designed

Let your hidden truth shine through

For the freedom of your mind

Is what liberates you

For the freedom of your mind

Is what liberates you
