The Corners of the Night

This poem was written as I found myself awake in hours meant for sleep. It is my attempt to capture that feeling of the strange comfort of darkness, the confusion of tired senses and mysteries that breathe in the shadows

Quiet dreams in a sleepless city

How can that be true?

Can you dream when there’s no sleep?

Of course…. they’re called daydreams

But here

It is not without sleep

For sleep is everywhere

No matter the noise

Or

The silence

Neon lights that stutter in the darkness

The moon

A floodlight bleaching the grey streets

Senses are confused

Sight and sound blur into one restless pulse

Quiet dreams drift through a sleepless city

Mysteries hidden

Coiled in the shadows

Deep within the dreams

And

In the corners of the night

Are these mysteries imagination?

Terror or comfort?

No one knows

Not until the night decides to reveal them
