Roots of a Restless Mind

(In 3 Movements)

I have been thinking about creating a piece that relates to the title of my site. I finally came up with something that is written over three movements. I hope you enjoy.
Movement I
My mind is a quiet archive
of unfinished lines and verses
ideas that grew in the dark
waiting for me to return
Melodies that started to rise
then fell back into the quiet
but still humming there
like a memory of sound
Poems that broke off mid breath
but kept breathing
small roots tapping at the edges
asking to be shaped
Dreams that I left hanging
their meaning still there
in shadows that I almost understood
they move through the undergrowth of thought
I walk through this tangle
feeling each root tug
a reminder that creation
is never a single moment
It is the slow pull of everything
I have not yet written
Movement II
Sitting quietly in thought
the roots begin to move
curling through the stillness
searching for a way back into the light
A melody drifts into my thoughts
soft at the edges
a fragment of something once played
still vibrating softly
still asking to be heard
A poem stirs from the archive
a line left behind in ages past
trying to escape the quiet of my mind
wanting to breathe
wanting shape
wanting to grow its own meaning
Stories whisper
chapters of colour and shadow
slipping through the undergrowth
traces left on my thoughts
as if they know I will bring them to life
Memories push upward
roots breaking the surface
carrying voices I almost forgot
carrying places I never truly left
everything moves at once
a restless tangle
pulling me inward
pulling me onward
reminding me that creation is never still
Movement III
Finally the roots settle
not static or still
but steady
slowly turning to what comes next
I feel them ease their grip
they do not let go
but find their place
in the shape of who I am
and my voice
The fragments
of unfinished things
melodies and poems
the half formed stories
no longer a burden
they are new beginnings
Each one creates
a small direction
a quiet pull
helping me grow
guiding me to what comes next
I understand now
that restlessness is a kind of promise
a way of staying open
a way of staying alive
The roots move gently
guiding me forward
reminding me that creation
is always there to reach
I know now
that I can grow
from the things
I have yet to imagine
Roots can break free
a restless mind keeps moving
