For Charlie and Scotland

Oh gather ye shadows of clans long ago

The tartan’s once blazing now faded and low

Their echoes still haunt through valley and glen

Of honour and heart in the swords of brave men

MacDonalds and Frasers, McLeods were all brave

The Robertsons stood where the white banners wave

Camerons, Gordons, McGregors they came

All fought for a Kingdom through blood and through flame

The clans showed their courage their banners held high

For freedom and honour they’d fight till they die

Though the heather lies silent our spirit lives on

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn

The marching the cheering to pipes stirring call

Many more clans met fate’s bitter thrall

They fought for the Stuart their cause held in vain

On Culloden’s dark moor where silence meets pain

Highlanders scattered their homes set ablaze

Their tartans and language condemned in the haze

Forbidden to speak to gather or mourn

They sailed into exile bereft and forlorn

The clans showed their courage their banners held high

For freedom and honour they’d fight till they die

Though the heather lies silent their memory stays strong

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn

No tyrant can silence the highlander’s name

It burns like a torch in history’s flame

Always remembered their stories retold

In stories of honour and legends of old

Their bloodline runs strong in far distant lands

From Canada's shores to Australian sands

In ballads and songs their spirits reside

With dreams of freedom they never let die

The clans showed their courage their banners held high

For freedom and honour they’d fight till they die

Though the heather lies silent their memory stays strong

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn

From ashes of sorrow, a promise was made

To never forget how the brave clans once swayed

Though scattered by fate, their legacy grew

In hearts of their kin, their spirit stayed true

The clans showed their courage their banners held high

For freedom and honour they’d fight till they die

Though the heather lies silent our spirit lives on

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn

The clans showed their courage their banners held high

For freedom and honour they’d fight till they die

Their names still resound the brave and the strong

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn

For Charlie and Scotland our spirit lives on

For Charlie and Scotland we’ll rise with the dawn
